Default Should I Worry?

My 2002 DS has some oil leaking from the main oil line at the engine. It is coming from the joint where the oil line hose connects to the fitting. There is another much smaller line connecting to the same fitting, I think that this is a overflow or return line??? When I last changed my oil I put in a whole gallon, I know this is more than required so I am thinking that it may just be excess oil draining from the tank through the small hose, and all over my engine. My oil level is fine, by fine I mean not low because it was a little high, and the bike has been running great. Has anyone else ever had this problem? Should I be worried? Also what is the correct amount of oil?

I am pretty sure that is the main feed hose (sucks oil from the tank into the engine, hose comes from the bottom of the oil tank). The return line is the small one that connects to the left upper side of the oil tank (90 deg fitting) and runs to the lower part of the motor. If the feed hose is leaking at the engine, maybe the clamp is loose. There is not really any pressure in this line but it is full of oil at all times (gravity feed).

Default Should I Worry?

I tightened the clamp last night so I will see this afternoon if it is still leaking. I think its coming from the return(small hose), but I can't tell. I read some posts a while back about the small hose getting pinched and screwing up the oil system... anyone think it could be that? If I have too much oil in the tank would this fitting/junction be the place it leaks? Thanks.

I don't dont see why either hose should leak (feed or return) no matter how much oil you put in the tank. The system is sealed once you put the cap on the oil tank. The vent hose is the only open outlet for the crankcase and if to much oil gets into the motor it should come out the vent line. If you still have a leak I would check for a bad hose, fitting, etc.
