Default Paint...

Hey guys, I was wondering what you guys thought of powerdercoating the stock wheels on my Recon black, and painting the engine with 550* engine paint.

About the wheels, will the powerdercoating hold up? I don't do much hardcore riding, just some light mudding and lots of trail riding.

When I say engine that does not include starter or exhaust. Just the block and head. What do you guys think?

I painted the entire engine on a Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 I used to have and it looked and performed great using the 550 degr. paint. The key to getting good results and longevity from the paint is in the prep work. Click on the link below to see the pic and you can see how well the paint held up after about 2 years. The engine was black from the factory.

Alright, cool. I think that that would look pretty slick. Only reason I am powerdercoating the rims is because my mom has a best friend who's husband does it for a living and can hook me up with one hell of a deal.

Is the stock paint chipping off your wheels?

No not really, just a couple spots here and there on each of them, mostly around the edges.

I was going to just sandblast them and powerdercoat them black. Sound like it will work?

Powder coat should work great. It's about the tuffest finish you can apply if it's done correctly.

I guess I'll give it a go then! The guy is a professional so I'm sure it will work out alright.

Thanks for the input guys.

Thanks, but I'd rather just do this, very cheap due to the relationship, and I would have to pay to ship them to you and back.

Thanks though
