Changing Timing Chain!
#1
O.K. what do I need to do to get the timing chain off and replace it? Do I have to take the side case cover off? Then what? Man looks like pita. Do I just want to leave the old one on? I have a manual also can you walk me through the steps PLEASE!

1) Take off the small starter cover and remove the gear.
2) Remove side cover and idler gear.
3) If the cylinder is off or at least the head it's possible to get the chain off without removing the flywheel but it's VERY tricky. If you have a good puller and /or your cylider and head are on it would be best to pull the flywheel.

I went ahead and left the old one on there. Got everything together except head cover. Couldn't find my gasket maker lol. Will finish up tomorrow. The hardest part for me was getting cylinder over piston and rings. I did have one ring come off and had to get it back in groove. Seems like it is all turning smooth. If one of the rings had come out of the groove would you be able to tell when your turning it over by hand? And the timing chain seems pretty tight. Tight enough for me! Almost done!
