Default 1/8 mile asphalt

Took my bike to the strip tonight to see how its running compared to last July when it grenaded itself Last july the best was an 8.5 at 78. that was on alky with a drag pipe full suspension. tonight it was on gas, drag pipe and front end strapped down. made doug take it easy the first run as we haven't run it since the rebuild with everything set right. 1st run was 10.3 @ 76, #2-8.66@78.9, #3- 8.87@77.75, #4- 8.45@78.54, #5- 8.45@78.26, #6- 8.37@77.92. 60 foot times were 1.8-2.0. 330 foot were 5.3-5.6. All in all I'm fairly happy that it did as well as it did. I thought our top speed might have gone up a little but it didn't lose any speed so thats good. As always Doug did an excellent job with what he had to work with. LOL

Very good job. As always...this is another case to where setup played a huge role in the outcome. Congratulations. Im going to have to stay on my toes now....

I'm thinking a liitle more swingarm and some different tires might gain a little more yet. Still running the stock Ohtsus at half tread.

Now that speaks highly to run those kind of times without the proper tires for the surface. Again, Good job

I'm just thinking out loud because I've never run an atv on asphalt with timers. Our dirt 300 ft time on a bone stock ds is always 5.3 and our Bone stock with a drag pipe and carb only is 5.0 (that's on Good dirt tracks! - it can go .3 tenths worse on a terrible track or if our setup is off).

If we extend that to 330ft, holding at 60mph (88ft/sec) across an extra 30ft, the time would be 5.64 and 5.34 respectively. I'm under no illusion that i'd be setup correctly the first time on asphalt, but it seems like asphalt would be faster than dirt?? Has anyone done both?? Is the dirt faster?

I don't know which is actually faster but the Ohtsus spin really bad at the start . You can see that the 60 foot times are almost 2 seconds the next 270 are done in 3.5. we don't have an extended swing arm or wheelie bar. I think there's a lot of room for improvement with just set up.

bring down a stock one! lets see. then a modded one! all talk no show. and your right its slower on asphalt. i know when i went out on the highway i would blow them off first 3 gears! and thats with 22" tires!
