An appeal for knowledge about Wolverines
#1
I tried to go riding yesterday, and as unlucky as I have been, the machine would not start. I have no spark, so I changed the plug. Then I went to try again. I have no fuel delivery. The cylinder chamber and spark plug were dry as a bone. This is the final straw from a broken axle, cracked rim, and front shocks that lost their pressure. By the way, the machine has 10 hours on it and is 3.5 months old. I have barely finished the break in period, and I have been in the shop more than on the trail.
My question to all of you is this. If I ever get these problems figured out, how do you get the wolverine to be a better cold weather starter? Before this, it would take me at least 7-10 minutes of trying before the machine would fire up. Is that normal? Does this stem from the problems I might be having with the machine now?
My dealer is playing dead and saying we don't know, just bring it in. I want to have something to tell them beside what I know, which is limited. So if any of you have any knowledge related to wolverines and my problems, please let me know!

timrek11,
Try a Dyno-jet jet kit and make sure when cranking it over pull the choke on full until it runs and actually starts to rev and push the choke in half way for a min or two and you should be good to go!!! If not get back and I'll help!!

Dooo, you got it,
Install the dynojet kit, I went with the 155 jet and do yourself a favor, put an in-line filter from the tank. Plastic crap from the tank will enter your bowl, lodge the float, which inturn stops fuel flow to the carb and will cause you endless trouble and start conditions your describing.
The filter is 2 bucks from Dennis Kirk.
The dynojet will improve cold weather performance.
Stock it's terrible, dynojetted it's tollerable and your throttle response will be improved as well.

jet kit is the answer, i can pull my choke out to the first notch and just as soon as i touch the start button its running!!!! if you don't want to install a jet kit, try backing out your idle mix. screw to about six turns, there set real lean from the factory.

To all of you that replied thus far I thank you. As far as the dynojet kit goes that sounds like a very good idea, but I want to know what kind iof a cost I am looking at. Also, I am fairly good at installing things, would I be able to do the kit myself?

its a do it your selfer, the kit cost around $55 or buy the power kit from k&n for around $105, it includes an air filter cleaner and jet kit, GOOD choice, better choice would be a proflow kit and a dynojet kit, cost around $160.

timrek11,
I use a 147.5 main jet until the temp outside drops to 30-40 f (hunting season---NOW in upstate NY) and at that time change over to a 150. Follow the directions for the jet kit!!!! make sure all the washers are on the needle, in the right place,if the clip doesn't seem to fit right use the stock one. Be careful not to lose the o-ring under the top of the carb. Put in a FUEL FILTER!!
Good Luck
