Most everybody is using stp son of a gun for weekly maintenence, but someone else posted using several thin coats of Mop n Glo for the nasty areas...it works!

I have the same question and concern. I recently bought two used ATVs. A 99 Honda Recon and a 98 Kawasaki 220. I believe in riding them, so the plastic is getting scratched and rubbed spots. I tried auto wax but it didnt seem to do much. I had one guy in a chat room tell me to use Mayonaise. LOL
Has anyone heard of that? HELP!

I have found washing it good with Dawn and water first, letting it dry and then applying a coat of silicone spray lubricant works VERY well. I have found Pyroil brand to work best. Mud cleans off very easy. (That is unless you have been riding in the mud for the entire day and have completely wiped out the coating of silicone.

You can use different ones. I first tried Tire Care. That's the stuff used to make car tires look new again. Now, I just use that on my black plastic, tires, and internal stuff. It can clean and shine up your engine and hoses. I have used Armor-All with success on the colored plastic and seat, as well as STP Son of a Gun. They both work well. I suggest spraying them from a distance to get maximum effect, let the spray soak for awhile, and then use a soft cloth to clean away the residue. I don't like 10W40 silicone spray, because it leaves a greasy film, which is hard to remove, and it just doesn't get the same shine as the others I mentioned.
Good luck.

Use armor all or similar product like STP son-of-a-gun. But when you put it on for the first couple of times spray it on real heavy and let it soak in overnight. I have found that WD40 gives a real good shine and makes it easier to clean mud and dirt off but I have heard that it is bad for plastic so I don't use it anymore.

Clean the plastics real good. Let them dry. then apply a couple of coats of Mop And Glo. It makes the plastics shin like new again. And if you have dark colored plastics it will even hide the scratches.

cob, lots of thin coats that dry 15 minutes apart. Try to acheive the "wet look". After its good and dry, give it a good dose of son of a gun or armor all and watch it shine! Granted, it ain't perfect, but it's better than road rash red.
