Installed a Power Kit in Rancher
#1
I recently installed the power kit advertised by Highlifter in my 2000 Rancher 2wd ES. Except that I ordered the components separately from Rocky Mountain ATV and saved approximately 60 bucks, although I had to wait for some backordered items in order to complete the installation. The Result? My quad picked up a considerable amount of low end grunt, I'm guessing 20%. The Supertradd ISD2 exhaust is a little louder than stock, but is not objectionable. I added 7 discs, the tuning directions stated that fewer discs would add more low end, and more discs would add more top end power with a corresponding increase in noise level. The K and N air filter installed perfectly. The jet kit took me perhaps 2 hours to install, but someone more familiar with the work might have done it in half the time. The jet kit included a new and slimmer jet needle, and a set of jets with guidelines on which one to use, based on altitude and if an aftermarket filter and exhaust system were used. I think this kit deserves your attention if you want more power with reasonable expenditure (about 295 dollars).

Thanks for the post! A 20% gain is very good, especially in the low end. I'm going to hold out a while and see what other pipes come onto the market. But, if they take too long, I'll go with the Supertrapp. Are there any aftermarket foam air filters available? K&N is OK in the dunes or where it isn't dusty, but they just don't cut it where I ride.

You will find this to be an easy installation, the PRM products are high quality. My only suggestion would be to put some homemade insulators between frame and skid. On my Recon there was quite a bit of resonation at certain RPMs, not super loud, but annoying as hell on an all day ride.
Give some feedback when you are done.
