H.O. Rider Is Making Me Mad!
#1
My friend has a New Sportsman 500 h.o and i have a 2000 sp500. he is always bragging on how good his bike is, and mine is just garbage according to him. What would it take to whoop that h.o. I can't get a new one right now. will the 42mm aftermarket carb for the scrambler fit my non h.o, and would an aftermarket cam for the scrambler fit in my sportsman ( a hotter cam than the h.o's) i would greatly appreaciate any advice or tips you guys might have.

You can put all the same parts the H.O has in it. There is a guy who has a web site that is prety much nothing but about polaris. he has an old sp500 he had to put the high comperion piston in it an the cam an carb in his an it helped alot made it like the H.O motor. sounds like a alot of work todo to me have you tryed getting a clutch kit for it they help alot.

Besides, your friend should be happy he has someone to ride with. I have been bugging my buddies for years to get wheelers. I don't care what they get(as long as it is Polaris:-)), just as long as we go riding. I get sick of them borrowing my dad's '94 400L 4x4.
The thing is, we are 21-22 years old, we should have a few toys by now.

A 2000 SP with a white or in your case a green clutch spring and some 46 gram weights will make you almost as fast. AAEN has long duration cams that are hotter than the Scrambler. 42mm carb and manifold, K&N airfilter, 2" snorkel or something to get more air in the airbox, Supertrapp IDS II muffler.
Do all this and you'll beat your friend and probably blow your crank, 'Cause the H.O. and the Scrambler have a heavy duty crank made to withstand the increase in power. If you do just the clutch, airfilter and muffler, maybe the stock H.O. cam you'll be pretty even with the H.O. Of course you won't have the new steering,
brakes or suspension. Plus these modifications cost more than the difference of selling your Sp and buying an H.O.
I ride with my old 2000 SP,I sold it to a Bud. It has a white spring and 48 gram weights. I can barely stay ahead of him.
I think this is a ***** envy kind of situation. Get a Raptor instead, then he'll have to get one. and so on and so on
