Whats the best year?
#1
I am looking to get a trx250R and was wondering what year was a good year? I currently have a LT250R and those were better from 1987 and on. Was there any changes for the Honda 250R? What were the diffrences? Thanx in advance

88 and 89 are the years that are in demand, and are the hardest to find. There were motor, gearing and chassis changes that made those ones better. To be honest though they all ran well, and were tough as nails. The biggest problem with any of the old machines is fighting frame fatigue. They will crack more easily after all of the years of hard riding, and welding won't solve the problem for long. A new chassis is almost mandatory, unless the machine has just been stored.........Good luck there! LOL!

The problem with original 250r frames are that they are made of square tubing [the square tubing doesn't flex like round tubing can, so over time they crack]. All aftermarket 250r frames are tubular steel, which honda should have used from the start.
