Default Plowing snow w/ a 2wd Scrammy

Is this even worth a try? Normally I would be plowing 5" to a foot at a time. 150 foot long gravel driveway. Will this even be worth it on a 2wd? I could chain up the rears but I wonder.

Thanks.

Sure it'll work. Put chains on the rear, and maybe add some extra weight on the rear rack, air down the tires, and have fun.

And maybe not over a 48" blade.

Hello Enigma.. Yup.. I plow with a Trailblazer. I run chains on the back and I have plowed 10 inches in a single pass. Seems to me that a 2wd quad is no worse than a garden tractor with a blade.

If Bryce's trailblazer can plow 10 inches of the white stuff, you should also be fine. Stick with a 48" plow, tire chains, and extra weight, and you should be just fine. If it's heavy, wet snow, just don't try to take as wide of a swath of snow. Keeping your speed up a bit will help kick the snow out more, hence, less snow to move on the next pass.

Not to hijack the thread, but how does your Wrangler pull that enclosed trailer with 2 ATV's? Does it have an automatic or manual? What gears?

A 2wd should be fine for light snow, just do like everyone else said -- add weight, chains, and air down the rear tires a bit (but keep the fronts nice and firm).

I think I asked bryce the same question last year. But I wasn't asking about the power, jeeps have a lot of torque; I was wondering what keeps the trailer from pushing the jeep on corners and braking -- they have such a short wheelbase, they are only rated @ 2000 lbs towing, while a cherokee with the same engine and driveline is rated @ 6000 lbs.

Hello WIscrambler.. The jeep has 3.73 gears with an automatic. I specially ordered the jeep with low gears and positract. The trailer weights less that 2000 lbs fully loaded with either quads or snowmobiles. The quads are 460lbs each (sleds slightly less), the trailer is about 800lbs. So weight or pushing is not much of a problem. It seems to pull quite nice. But gas mileage is poor.
