Is there any change that can be made to make my automatic transmission to hold back more when going down a hill. Some one said there was a mode that they did on ATV for Mountain Areas to help with this. Now when I try to do down a step grade it does not try to hold back at all. I have to use way to much brake to keep it slowed down. I simply want it to use the transmisson to help control on step declines. Thanks for any help you can give me. Happy Ridding.

Hi guys I am back, bjgjr if whether you have ebs there is 2 ways to go about this well actually 3 and there is nobody on here well maybe a few that can give you better advise on this than I can. First of all if you have ebs you can give it gas as you pump the brake going down really steep stuff this keeps your wheels from braking traction and at the same time slows you down. Or you can put your bike in reverse as you hold the override button the little yellow one give it a good hard spin backward then shift into forward low preferably as you HOLD THE BUTTON, this will give you true 4 wheel hold back BUT DO AND I REPEAT BUT DO PRACTICE THIS METHOD ON STUFF NOT REAL STEEP TO GET THE FEEL OF IT. Useing this method going down steep stuff makes the steering real hard and can get you into trouble if you are going down something that turns suddenly one way or the other. If you don't have ebs don't worry I have a friend with a sportsman who doesn't know what low gear is and puts his in high and goes down one of the worst hills...we call it widowmaker in high gear while standing up...but the best advice I can give you is practice, practice and then practice some more...truthfully when I got my sportsman I hated the way it came down stuff and had some close calls being used to riding an Artic Cat 500. But once you get used to it you will find it is easy as can be and you will not find any bike that goes up steep stuff better than a polaris...By the way I ride some of the Hatfield McCoy trails and other stuff here in WV ask some of the guys on the trail what kind of stuff we ride here in WV. I know what I am talking about coming down steep stuff...
