My buddy has a 350 rapty. It's not quite broke in yet. When you start it up, It will fast idle with the choke on. When it starts warming up and you start opening the choke up it will pop and spit back through the carb and then die. I told him that the valves need adjusted since he hasn't had it done yet. What do you guys think?

Once it starts to idle fast do not use choke. I had that problem in the beggining to. start with choke once idles fast just give it some gas adn keep it runing for about a minute and he should be fine

After it warms up it still pops and spits back through the carb then dies. It seems like timing or something. That's what cars do when the timing is off.

yeah when it hiccups into the carb like that it's probably too lean on the pilot jet. Try turning the fuel screw out until it stops. It doesn't sound like a valve problem

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess it's good to know that it's carb related and not something bigger and more expensive. I went to deepwater last friday.
