Grizzly Tires Size???
#1
I am considering getting either the Mudlite XL or ITP 589?? Other question is what size can I run without doing a lift kit? Or if I do the lift kit and wheel spacers are there a problems I should beware of?? Any advice would be great. Thanks, MIKE

you could go up to 27's without a lift kit,,,,,worse case scenerio you may have to trim a very little bit of plastic on the rear at the end of where the foot rest is
before i put the lift kit on it would rub a little when hitting a good bump,,,,so if you did trim,it would be so little cosmetically you wouldnt be able to notice

Several of us use 27" bearclaws. They will eat into your footrest a little. Some have been using the mudlites. I, personally, like the bearclaws better. They handle better in the trails and dont get buried in the creeks, like the lites do. The bearclaws are not as an aggressive tread pattern so they do not mud quite as good as the lites or 589's.

I have 26 inch mudlites on my grizz and so far I really like them(only 200 miles on them), I also have 589s on my prairie 700 and they are also good tires, if I had to chose I would take the mudlites as they ride much better on hard pack and soak up less power. That said my 589s have 2000 miles with very little wear and have not had a problem with them.

When using the stock rims on my 2003 Grizzly... how wide of a tire can I use on the front and rear without major rub? I don't mind modifying the plastic but I don't want the tires to hit the frame or any other metal.
I plan to use 25 or 26 inch tires.

Hi Ron
I got a 2005 Grizz with stocker wheels and 25x10 Dirtdevils. I think 25x12 is about as wide as you can go not too many tires out there wider than that in a mudding/trail tire.
When is the next time your going riding? I see we have the same area code for phone numbers I live in Kettle Falls / Colville area.
My next tires is prolly gonna be some 14 inch Mudlite radials 27x12x14 on ITP black wheels, atv direct has em for like 860 bucks. The wife would kick my *** though
She just doesn't understand!

My next big run is from May 24th to May 30th in the Manastash area near Ellensburg.
There will still be snow and lots of mud where I am going so I need to get new tires ASAP.
The trails where I go are very rough. Sharp rocks, large tree roots, steep slimy hill climbs, rock walls, etc. I am trying to figure out which tire is best for my use as well as just how large in diameter I really should go as well as how wide I can go while using the stock rims.
I know I am not going to use a 27" and I am bouncing between the 25 & 26 inch since I have heard that on some ATV tires the lug depth is much deeper on a 26" as apposed to the 25"

You might want to look at the 26" Dirtdevils, they arn't really expensive and the 26 inchers really have a bite when fresh, and the lugs are deep. They will be able to grab and rip and tear while other bigger lugged mudders will slip on slimy hard pack with a mud coating. Big heavy mudders might grab more mud but you need a digger. 26x12x12 is about as wide as you'll find in a 26" tire and not a bad price at $86.00 bucks for the rear and 26x10x12 front at $80 bucks per.
26x11x12 Mudlight XTR would be an excellent choice too but they are a lot of money. $112.00 bucks and not as wide.
