i picked up my brand new 0 miles olive green arctic cat 400 4x4 auto on saturday and man oh man what a machine i drove it all day sat and went night riding with my uncle and his recon to break her in a bit and i myself as well as my uncle couldnt believe how smooth it went over bumps. we switched machines on the way back and the recon rode like a tank what a difference my uncle soon gave my bike back and his only words were wow..... its a ####ing cadillac and wasnt happy with his wife who put the brakes on him getting an ac.today hes sore im fine and loving my bike more and more each time i sit on it.but one question for you other ac owners my bike was iced up this morning and my bike wouldnt start in any other gear than n and would sometimes start in the other gears L and h also my diif lock was sticking on this morning i didnt freak out because i figure after going through some water it must have been iced up right???. and my gear shift from low to high to neutral is tough to move sometimes anyone else have this prob i need to know now so i can bring it right back to the dealer. thanks for your time and info

Mine starts in any gear as long as the break is in but mine stays in the garage, well for your shifter mine was hard at first I just sit on it and try to rock it back and forth a bit and that works it's alittle better but still does that and I believe it's normal, as for your other problem I would say it's just ice, but if not take it back and have them fix it.

one problem is if as you said you went through the water and then it got cold enough to freeze, you should always make sure you can run a while to dry the brakes off if not they will develop ice on them and give you problems with the in gear starting, same thing with a shift lever always make sure there is no ice built up on them before you ride or you could damage them severly.

congrads on the new bike!!!!

Congrats Rango...I knew you would like it. I have the '06 400 LE for about a month now and love it! I've had similar issues, but all worked themselves out. I've found that riding in heavy rain or riding in water the digital guage would get stuck where I couldn't reset the trip, hour/clock and other functions. It took a few days to dry out I assume, but they're working fine. As for being stuck in gear, I've found that if I'm on a hill in high/low/reverse and want to shift, it's tough to switch out --- I'm assuming becuase the weight is all on that gear. What I do is push the throttle in a little to get to level ground or just shift while moving (going very slow so I don't blow the trans). This seems to work well. I had concerns myself when I first got my AC, but it seems to be working great now. I adjusted the suspension from when I bought it and it's really smooth now. That will blow your Uncle away!

I used to have a 2004 400 and loved it, just wait until you get 300-500 miles on it, the engine really wakes up and is like a whole new machine.

Catterman - Will the suspension soften at all after riding for a while? My friend has a Polaris with IRS and it's really soft.

There is a reason the 400 is the best selling model Arctic Cat makes. It is a great all around quadcycle. My 2005 400 also has a"sticky" Low/High?Rev lever; however it is a lot better a 1300 miles than it was new.

My diff locked up sometimes for no reason, warm or cold, when I first got it, never does it now. I think it just needs to be broke in a little more and it will work itself out.

I'm jealous of you guys and your new 400's. Our 04's do not have the locking diffs and I really wish they did. Grrrrr. But they always come up with new cool stuff after you get yours...

As Catterman says, just wait until you get some miles on that thing. The power will rip you off the seat (well, almost... ).
