I have a moderate clunk sound when shutting off the engine. It sounds like tapping the side case with a 19mm wrench. A reliable Yamaha mechanic told me that it is just the "engine kicking back" and that it is nothing to worry about. This same mechanic also told me that it was not the "one way clucth" in the staring system. The sound I am hearing does not happen all of the time, however it happens about 75% of the time. Have any of you other Warrior owners exoierenced any noise like i have described ?

I have a 1996 Warrior and have the same thing when I turn off the engine. I've never really been worried about it becuz it doesnt sound too bad. I just thought maybe something with the starter or crank turning over one more time. Dont worry about it.

Strange how most of these are 1996 Warriors......maybe there is something they changed or some sort of defect in the '96 model?

It is the 1 way starter clutch bearing you are hearing. Don't worry about it. I tried everything to quiet it with little success. To replace everything you will be looking a lots of money. You need the bearing a puller, and they are not cheap by any means. Even after those two items you will still hear the back lash.
