OK guys I really need my front drum brakes I hate having to gear down fast all the time it's just wrecking my engine. And I almost flew into an electric fence that was across a pathway for a farmers cows.

I think I need to clean my brake cylinders, lines or the resivoir, because the brake pads don't stick out far when I pull the lever, and I have never had any pressure but I know there is 2 little holes in the resivoir cap that get air into there.
Can someone please help me or give suggestions on what to do about the front brakes. Is there some brake line cleaner out there?? because I'd like to try it.

Take the brake lines off, blow air threw them.Hopefully you can see through them.Take the drum off.Buy some drum cleaner.Use this and get some sandpaper and smooth the drum down real good.Take some Elmers glue, or something you can get back off,and fill them two holes.Put the lines back on, clean the reservoir out, make sure everything is dry.Adjust the pads so they are barely touching the drum.Fill the resorvoir with fluid and bleed. Now hope you have brakes!!

Ok I took apart my brake drum cylinders and they were all seized up, so I ordered new brake cylinders $48.00 for 1!!...I have 1 question to ask you trx 200sx owners, what is the other bolt on the wheel cylinder with the rubber cap on it...is that the part where you bleed them or do I just bleed through the bolt where the line connects to it. My dad and I can't figure out what it is...we thought it was one of those grease nipples but I don't think so...any help??

this topic is always entertaining reading

yup......the bolt (kind of a nipple) with the rubber boot on is used to bleed the lines

......man this has been going on for so long......that bike has done well to keep going if you are using the gearbox like i think you are!

lol......ride hard

SO how does it work??..do you pull in the lever then open this nipple thing...like i've been trying to do but on the other bolt with the line attached...Or do I have to attach a line running from the nipple thing to a jar of brake fluid and have that line submerged in fluid...what should I do??.

I've been doing it wrong the whole time...no wonder I can't get them to work....LOL

I think you need to do this.Pump the lever 7 or 8 times then hold it in.Turn the valve open for a split secoond ( long enough for a tad bit of fluid to come out) the let go of the lever.Repeat until you have brakes.

Hey ATV man , remember me? I hate the hand brakes on my 200sx so I use the foot brake all the time. First of all , u know the little box on the right side of the handle bars where u put the brake fluid in? the little cap on the front of it where u look into to check the brake fluid is busted and i cant find another one, secondly the 2 screws on the top holding the top on are stripped , what 2 do?

Yeah I remember you mudslinger...My screws are stripped too so the cap is hard to get off...that's where the fliud goes, always use DOT 4(not3). My rear brake drum is cracked or something so it's not useable.

So tell me if I'm right guys...1st fill the resivoir with fluid...pump it 7-8 times...hold in the lever...loosen the bolt off(with the rubber cap) till air stops coming out then tighten up...now let off the lever and repete for the other side until I have good pressurized brakes??

Hey man, i also havea 200sx and i could not keep the front brakes working. My advice is just to not bother with them and use the rear brakes. I tried so many different ways to fix them and they would only work for about a week.
good luck

While I was at the dealer ordering my new brake cylinders(wich come in soon) I asked the mechanic why do I lose my brakes after a while...he said you have to flush the brake fluid out and put new fluid in every couple of months to keep them clean and from seizing up.
