Default Kazuma 250 falcon starting problem

I have 2-250cc falcon atvs and neither will start unless you put your hand over the air box and shut off the air, when I get it started it runs great but went out this morning to start and neither would start until you shut off the air, I put 2 new chokes on and that did not solve the problem. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Spliffy you have no clue what those lines are do you? There is no airline on the carb. You have an intake tube and vent lines. You dont want to tie off a vent line and you dont want to plug the vent tube. If you have problems starting in the cold you have a choke problem or a jetting problem.

Moving the needle up will not affect starting. That only controls 1/4 to 3/4 throttle. Yes you are right it is running lean but changing the pilot jet and adjusting the air mixture screw will solve a lean starting problem.

cowgirl,

I would listen to 2manytoys advice. Pinching off a the line is a back yard mechanic technique. Sure it might work but it is a temporary repair to a bigger problem. spliffy I don't mean to offend you. But really if you are fixing quads this way, and you are doing it for customers that pay you their hard earned cash. Then you are doing them a disservice by that repair. (Again people buyer beware) You should be fixing the quads correctly for them. The vacuum line was not placed there so you could just pinch it off if there is a problem. That's not its design.

Cowgirl follow 2manytoys advice first, before you start with the duct tape and plastic ties. Fix it correctly. And if there is a vacuum leak in the small diaphragm then fix it. Or get a new carb. If you have to rejet then do so. If you need advice on jets or where get them then ask. Heck I even have some I would send you. There are many people here who will help you. spliffy you can get jets. Do your research. Try not give out give incorrect information.

Also if the quad is still under warranty then have the dealer fix it.

cowgirl good luck.

SB.
