2005 500HO Valve Guides?
#1
I know this is unheard of but I have a 2005 500HO that is burning oil somehow. My riding friends said they thought that they were following a two stroke after a brief ride. Sure enough I checked the dipstick and the engine had consumned oil. This is with less than 700 miles on the quad.
So... off to the dealer I went. My dealer said it was not the piston or rings and Polaris was unaware of any trends like this. So he ordered new valve guides for the motor. This is our 5th 500 in the family and I haven't heard of any other Fuji 500s exhibiting this phenomenon.
Do you think it could be a soft cam with a bad exhaust lobe?

No, my 05 500 doesn't use oil, neither does any of the ones from my atv group. One guy has a 98 500 with over 15k miles. He has never changed the oil or checked it. I checked it for him a few weeks ago, just for the heck of it. It is still full. I know for a fact it has never been checked or added to. The fuji motor should not use oil.
