ram,

I cannot answer the question of whether the 450 and 400 have the same differential. I am not even sure which differential you are refering to. You can get on any of the parts diagram sites and verify if they have the same part number like http://www.bikebandit.com/partsbandit/default.asp . There is a differential in the front and one in the rear on 4wd models. You did not mention which model you had so it is pretty hard to assist. It would help to give a year and model number and whether you are inquiring about the front or rear diff.

I have a 350 front diff that is low mileage (<1,00 miles) and is sitting taking up space but I am pretty sure that is not going to help your 400 situation. The 350 and the 400 front differentials are definitely different. Same gearing but no 2wd/4wd selctor electronics on the 350. Drive shafts match splines on each end but 400 has a much shorter drive shaft.

yeah, which diff do u need? front or rear? I'm guessing parts are probably no longer available for the 400 forman, or getting close to that. Maybe time to upgrade?

*cough* (i suggest a 350 4x4 rancher) *cough*
