Default 400ex burning oil thread #2

sup guys i posted a few months ago about this but i have a update. I have a 2001 400ex. I was going to bore it out to a 416 but i decided not to becuase the compression is fine in it. The compression is 123, did a compression check today. I also put a few drops of oil in the cylinder to see if the rings are bad but there not. So im just going to rebuild the top end. Thing is though, my dad was telling me that i should look around for a used cylinder head since this one may be warped. Is there any place where i can get used ones? at service honda there 331 dollars brand new. I know on cars when you buy a new head they come with the valves and everything on it. Is it the same for a quad? Thanks

Call Dirt First Racing in Baltimore and explain what you have done. It sounds like you might just need valve seals. This would be a cheap fix. dirtfirstracing.com

For car engines, you can get just a bare head. It merely depends on how you order it.

if you think the head is warped, put some plastigage on the piston where the valves may hit, bolt it back up, turn it over, tear it back apart and if there is enough clearance, have it machined. youll bump the compression up a tiny bit and have a nice flat mating surface again. it was 35 bucks I think for my civics cylinder head.
