Default Synthetic winch rope

I finally got my winch rope. How do I remove the steel cable from the drum on a Warn 2500 winch? Please tell me it can be done without removing the winch....

Just spool the cable out and unhook the cable end from the slot it is fitted in.

sportsman2004...
I just respooled mine with Amsteel........I actually took mine winch off just to give me more room...It wasn't too bad taking it off.........I left the wires hooked up, just took all the bolts off because I needed room to get the roller fairlead off......I hope you got a hause fairlead too.......Also be careful when you get to where the old wire rope connects to the drum.....There's a little button which hold the rope to the drum, don't loose it......Also you'll probably have to cut the terminal end off the synthetic rope if it has one, at least I did on mine......You don't need the terminal end for the Warn 2.5.....Just respool it the same way the wire comes off but make sure you do it under tension........I connected the hook to my truck and respool it with the brake on the quad to keep it tight.........I was done completely in about 45 minutes........

Thanks JCDEYO25. IT was easier then I thought once I rolled the drum around and seen how it was done. I just put this winch on (after breaking 2 cables and finally the winch. I have a brand new roller fairlead, so I wont have any issues. The hause looks good, but why spend the dough when you don't need to. I need to get my pictures finished so I can post them. Do you got any of your quad? Love to see them.

sportsman2004..........
I really suggest the hawse fairlead with the synthetic because if you're pulling at an angle, there's a chance that the synthetic can get pinched in the corners.......My roller was basically brand new but I changed it because of that..

scramblerXrated........
Seems to me that price was just for the rope or was the fairlead included? I searched high and low and found the best price was the site Vinnie was talking about..That's where I got mine......For $79 I think I saw the rope with the aluminum fairlead......
