I mostly ride rocky, loose dirt trails, and was thinking about 26" Bighorns...

Is anyone running these, and if so do they provide the smoother ride and good handling they claim?

Also, would the 26" ones work on the stock wheels? Factory are 25x8x12 and 25x10x12, and the Bighorns would be a bit wider at 26x9x12 and 26x12x12.

I would like to keep the cost down. When I look at the cost of a tire/wheel package it occurs to me that money would be a good start at saving for a used buddy-quad... so if I can't use my stock rims buying a set of stock take-offs might make more sense.

 

I have not put any on but I have taken several sets off of peoples quads. They said they just become big mud ***** on the quad.
I like the Ducks Unlimited Wet lands myself. I'm going to change my rims on my Rancher and put the 25" Ducks on it.

every tire does in extreme mud and I don't remember him saying that he'd be "mudding"

 

They will fit your stock rims fine, and every1 i heard of that has bighorns gives a thumbs up. So go for it. I'm an ITP man myself, i would go with the mud light xtr's.

 

Mudlites would be another option I was kicking around. Like I mentioned, most of my riding is on dry trails, though, so my emphasis would for performance in those conditions...

The Ducks are made by ITP. That is where the Mud Lite XTR's came from.

 

I'm NOT knocking the mudlites at all but those or the Big Horns are what I personally would get.....and before I bought I'd talk to folks that have owned both and driven them in the conditions you will. On the Big Horn side, I would talk to Lance at atvscene.com. You'll find him under Honda and then 06 Rincon Review...he is the one that wrote the article and he will write you back the same day. I've heard GREAT things about both tires but I think more have owned the Mudlites and it is a little harder to find a Big Horn opinion. One more thing is that he raced a KQ and now a Rinny and sported Big Horns on both. I think he provides good clear advice but I will say that he is sponsered by Maxxis. In that article though, there are other guys that own the Big Horns too.

Mud Lights are a good tire! I am actully going to try a set of 27" bear claws though for my next set of muders. Oh well we shall see how they do, anyone have any imput about the claws?
