Default Quick Question about a gasket-Raptor

Hi guys, I am putting a new gasket on the left side of a raptor engine, this is where alll of the starter stuff is. The gasket ripped near the upper part of the case, can I still use it or could I use some liquid gasket where the rip is??

Default Quick Question about a gasket-Raptor

It is always good to use new gaskets. Reused gaskets are known for leaking. If it were me, I would remove all gasket material from the case, clean it up really good and then use a new gasket. You might get by with a little gasket sealer, but it doesn't take much time to clean up and a new gasket is cheap.

That particular gasket can be a real pain in the butt, I have found that replacing rather than repairing is a better option. At least for the side cover anyway. Yamabond by itself wont hold it together either.

Thanks, I just got everything in check and now the engine wont fire. I was thinking I somehow messed up the timing or clogged carbs, because it wont run. I think its the carbs though becuase it has sat all winter without a start
