Default Tacate 4, anyone?

I have always wanted a tecate 4 as a kid growing up, and a kis down the street just purchased one. IT is in really great shape looks to be a restso, anyway i rode it tonight. I love the way they look and sound. The power was typical 2 stroke, all or nothing. It dont compare to the bomb but to me it was like a vintage hot rod. You know it is loud, it blows smoke, has the ringy dingy sound, burns oil (2-stroke), stinks , no air conditioning, or soft suspension. Just ***** to the wall adrenaline. I had a kx 250 as a teenager back in the early 80s and riding this tecate 4 just sent me back in a time warp, when the mullet, trans-ams and def lepard and g-n-'r blasting through the Kracos in the rear seat...............

.........man those were the days. Anyway back to reality. anyone else have any memories they would to post , lets hear them. Thanks for listening (the wife says to grow up, get out of the past. She dont understand) lol

Later,
Chiknhawk

My fondest ATV memories are from the late 80s when I was around 6 years old. Our favorite park to ride was Croom Motorcycle ParK in Brooksville Florida. The thing I remember most is waking up from camp in the morning and smelling burning oil.....oh how can you not love a 2 stroke?! Back then, the place was run by TRX250Rs, LT250Rs, Zillas, and Banshees. I like the new 450s, but my favorite bikes are the classic 2 strokes. I love my modded R, but I get taken back to the 80s everytime I see a stock 2 stoke quad......;

Hey chiknhawk, a good friend of mine has a restored 87' tecate 4 and yes it is really nice. I havnt got to ride it yet but will. My memory is of my cousin's honda oddessy and yamaha dirt bike. Also there is memories of beat up mopeds that we cut the exaust up on and ran lantern fuel through um, that was cool because they blew flames really good.LOL We also used to blast around on riding mowers without the decks and have tugowar contest. One time was my favorite and my cousin just reminded me about this last weekend and I laughed for ever. See my causin is twice my size and always has been and we were having a tugowar contest and he was just dragging me backwards, so I had a friend jump on mine with me to make the weight about even and it was on, I popped the clutch and flipped him backwards and drug him about 3 or 4 feet before I realized that he was on the ground. This was unsafe play, but it was so funny and he was kinda mad at me, but now we just sit back and laugh at all the stupid stuff we did. By the way that cousin's name is Mike and I posted about him and one of his friends and I draggin the last week, Mike was the one with the kfx700. I also had a 200x three wheeler back around '90 that had a yamaha 440 twin cylinder on it that was pretty wild, but prolly not as fast as the ds. Hell I remember back then that the honda 250x was one of the faster 4 strokes. Well thats part of my past.LOL RUSS
