Default 400ex engine touble

I was riding the other day when my 400ex started acting funny. I was going around the road and it started pulling against itself. I pulled in the clutch and it quit. I tried to start it and the engine would barely turn over. I waited about 45 minutes and it started up fine, but the motor was knocking pretty bad in the top end. I rode it back to my house and the knocking quit. I started it again about 20 minutes later and it started knocking again. What could be wrong?

That doesn't sound to healthy, Im wondering if it didn't seize up and when it cooled off it freed up a bit. I've seen 2-strokes do that before, so Im assuming a 4-stroke could. Does it have plenty of oil in it? Is the oil filter in the right way?

Might have to tear into the engine to find out.

I checked the oil and it has plenty and the oil filter is in the right way. But thats the same thing I was thinking about it seizing up. I belive it may have bent a valve. But my engine is still running, its just knocking really bad.
