Default TROUBLE WITH REAR BRAKE ON '03 RANCHER ES!

HELLO

i am having some trouble with the rear brake on my rancher. when i squeeze it, it doesnt want to come back to good. the foot brake is fine, it snaps right back after you press it. i used to be a bike mechanic and often this was caused by gummed up cables. i unscrewed the wingnuts all the way out and tested the swing mechanism on the drum and it seems to be working properly. when i pushed it forward it snaps right back, but when i am using the lever, the lever just about stays in place(depressed).

anyone have any suggestions?
thank you in advance for your responses
sean

I would say you need to lube the cable comming from the lever or replace it.
The foot uses one cable and the hand lever uses its own.

sounds to me like you need to twist the wingnut on the back tighter so it pulls the brake more, then it will spring back.
