Default NEED HELP ASAP!!! Base gasket keeps leaking.

A friend of mine bought my DS and the base gasket keeps leaking. It is now on its second gasket in about 6 months and I was wondering if anyone has had this problem before or might know what is causing the problem. It is an 02.

Where is the oil coming out? Is it just coming out the front near the starter?

How's your crank-case breather look? Any kinks? When the bike is running are you getting much air out of it?

what gasket is he using?

What torque values have been used?

If he is using a stock base gasket, and stock values, he might have a warp somewhere.

Make sure everything is super clean, that there is no gasket residual, and that when putting the jug on he is not damaging the gasket at all.

If all this is being done, he might try using a little yamabond. This is not normal, and the Yamabond might be a good patch.

good luck

Hey Raw just a little history on that bike. When the cams were put in they had a local shop with a gasket cutter make one for time reasons. The second gasket was stock and it did not leak in stock form. I would bet the gasket was damaged when installed. Call the local shop and talk to Jeremy about it and see if he knows anything also. I hate to hear that
