Default '01 to '05 660 Raptors, differences?

What are the differences between teh '01 to '05 Raptors? I'm throwing around the idea of getting a used one and don't know if they made any major changes to anything within those years.

Thanks!

Ted

At the dunes I could beat a modified 02' with my stock 05'. I think the newest one you can get the better. Each year they probably work out the kinks from previous years.

the only difference is age and the thrans, the 01's probibly have been ridden more and the motor has more wear. The second thing is that the trans in the 01 has a tendency to "blow" up. other than that they are great.

I think the biggest difference was Yamaha got the tranny problems with the 01's fixed by 02.

Dwags and Wendell, thanks for the heads up on the tranny issues! I've seen some '01's going for good prices but for a little more some '04's seem to be okay deals as well. I've got plenty of time before I'll be able to buy one so I'll just keep my eyes open for a '02 or newer one.

Thanks again!

Ted
