Raptor rods
#1
I have heard the Raptor roads are weak. I plan on doing some motor work to mine and I dont want to deal with a rod knock or even worse~a broken rod. Should I switch to a hot rod? I really dont feel like tearing down the bottom end but is this really necessary? How many of you guys have thrown rods?

I am wanting to switch to the HotRods 720cc kit, comes with a +4mm stroker rod and crank and a 102mm 10.75:1 piston with a 2mm offset on the wrist pin. It is supposed to be a direct bolt in with no machining, anybody heard anything on this kit or know anyone with it?? I have had good success on stroked small block chevy's so I figure why not on the rappy, I already need to get a new rod anyway so why not get more power at the same time! Let me hear your thoughts.

a 720cc hot rod won FSWS this year, they make great power and are durable. Dont mess with the motor if you dont plan on chaing the rods. The hot rods kit is a great swap, its the easiest and the cheapest. But they are some high end/lightweight rods out their if you want to go that direction.

I do race AMA but there is no limit on Quads in any of the series that I race. The rules for quads are an open class with unlimited displacement and suspension, so basicly anything goes, besides that who would ever know without tearing the motor down?? Those rules are the same for Best in the desert as well www.bitd.com
Thanks for the input, I was thinking that a stroked motor would still be reliable enough to hold up. Do you have any numbers for what sort of HP it was putting out?
