Hi there. I a newbie looking into an 04 DVX that's still in the crate. I was wondering if there are any DVX owners here that could give me the heads up on potential problems and preventions i should know about this bike. I would also appreciate your opinion on your own DVX so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated. So far from reading this forum and others i have read about these possible things
1.possible weak frame
2.brake/clutch/electrical lines etc getting cut from the rounded plastic opening below handlebars
3.cheap plastic skip plate under swing arm
4.timing chain stretching
5.Stock shocks could use a replacement
6.plastic fenders scratching easily and can break off easy if rolled

input on these issues would be welcomed
One more thing....how is the seat for comfort?

I think most people would say that arctic cat doesnt have the most comfortable seat, but not the worst either. Its about average. I have heard people complain about it being a stiffer seat than they prefer

 

On the plastic there are little tabs that old the green/red fenders in place to the middle plastic. those tabs easily break so i just drilled a hole threw were they once were and put in pan head screws with a flat washer on top and a flat washers and nylon bolt on the bottom. the outside fenders are replaceable and sell as four and the middile is 1 solid piece.Another thing is to remember after changing the oil to get the oil filter in the way it came out, becuz if its put in the wrong way it won't allow oil pressure and disaster. and i've found that Me and me only has had a problem with the heal guard bottoms busting out on them, mayb i'm just a tad to rough on things [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] The weak frame you don't need to worry about unless you are doing extreme MX racing everyday putting it through the paces. they had trouble with them breaking at the top of the shock tower on the front. Other than that it's a darn good machine and for the most part it's cosmetic or just common sense like the oil filter. Pick it up ASAP
