This was not a single issue election, yet I get mail and phone calls wanting me to vote for a party because of one issue.
Remember, what Gore is wanting to do for the environment must get by the house and senate both of which is republican. These promises he is making now are called campaigning. Not Reality.
Do you like time & a half for overtime? Do you use overtime money to pay for stuff for your quad? Republicans are not labor friendly with a Republican President and Congress they can and probably will pass legislation to take away overtime pay benefits, health benefits, and lower your wages.
I have a Quad, snowmobile, and I Believe in our 2nd amendment rights but I voted for my job for I cannot afford the above with out one.Remember the easiest way for your company to increase its profit margin is to lower your wages, take away benefits, or move the company to Mexico,China or Tiawan.
You will also see interest rates rise with Republicans. Greenspan may be bi-partisan, but I believe it is the policies and actions of the controling political party that makes Greenspan raise or lower the fed to keep our economy in check.
So you see there is more here to think about than just where am I going to ride. If they close national and state trails we the people can and will open private ones. I stand with Gore I do not agree with him on everything but I think what he wants will not make it thru congress. He also made a lot of money in years past with big oil.He won't hang them out to dry.

Rhubler,
I respect anyone's decision that they make in an election. I just want to get some information from you. Why do you think Republicans are not labor friendly? What have you seen that makes you believe that the Republicans would do away with over time? I've been following Greenspan for years and have yet to see him cave in to any political party.

YES rhubler does = UNION. In the past I have seen legislation that didn't make it through the house and senate. I saw this at union meetings and in a solidarty magazine i receive. It went something like this>
You would work 3 twelve hour days for 36hrs of straight time pay with reduced benefits because you are not full time employee. if your 3 days of work fell on the weekend you still get straight time pay. The company could efectivey run 24hrs a day with out paying any overtime premium. This is great for the co. not for us. and to top it off this bill had a title something like. Quality family time, they were trying to convince you this was good for you so you could spend more time with your family when in reality you would have to work another job to help pay for benefits out of your own pocket. keep in mind this was a proposed bill. That is just one example.

How many of you are married? If you are you have a contract. (marriage vows) We enter into contracts everyday of our life many of which are not complicated.
A union provides you with a contract with your company it is agreed apon by both parties. It spells out procedures, pay ,benefits, and advancements to better jobs, as well as safety.however it does not keep the co. from shutting down or moving to another country. A lot of people do not understand about unions this is just a very brief and simple explanation.

As you said this is about many issues, yet you seam to be basing your vote on one. For every argument you make on a single issue, there can be an equal argument made for the other side. Now don’t get me wrong I am not against unions, I believe the scenario, you laid out is an unfair and unjust one, however, that is not the issue here. It is the basic concept of economy. Lets say you own a small business, you need to have say 10 workers to keep the business going, you can only afford to pay them minimum wage. The government comes in and say minimum wage is now 50 cents higher. You were paying in wages $8560 out a month, now it goes up to $9360 per month, that’s a difference of $800 a month, and $9600 a year. Now we all have to pay for the increase, and inflation goes up and the 50 cents isn’t worth any more than you had before. All the Republicans say is if you give the business owners a brake, that will allow them to hire more, increase production, making the product cheaper, so we can all have one. You confuse being for the business man with being against labor. Its not the same, You’ve heard “compassionate Republican” that’s a term they were forced to use because of the Democratic hype, and scare tactics. I believe I should work for what I have or get. I don’t believe the government should give it to me, and I don’t believe the government should take my money and give it to someone else who has not earned it. Bush will be our next President.

You said it! Another thing not often mentioned. Gore is supposed to be Union, which is fine. Why then, was the Clinton/Gore team so pro-NAFTA? That basically sent a bunch of otherwise union jobs to Mexico. I bought a '94 pickup. The sticker said made in USA (Michigan, specifically). A neighbor bought a '99, same make & model, only now it says 'Made in Mexico'. A high minimum wage does no good if the job is in Mexico.
My brother in law is union & he said compared to the non-union jobs available, he gets less than $250 more per year after his union witholdings. To top it off, the union used some of his dues to support Gore, whom he didn't vote for. He asked for the portion of his dues back that get sent to political candidates but he is still waiting. I hope he isn't holding his breath.
