Does anyone know whether or not the dealer starts it up and drives it around after they fill the bike with fluids ? I need a way to tell whether it was beat on before I buy it. How can I tell?

Thanks,

Jeff Fox

I work at a Yamaha dealership (sombody has to help them guys lol)I assemble ATV's for them.I then fill them with fluids let it idle outside, shut it down and cool, start it again, let it cool, check all the fluids again and drive it to the showroom 150 feet or so.This is not always the case.We also sell Arctic Cats. They come with a presale checklist which includes a test ride. All dealerships are different. If you want to try to tell if someone rode it inspect the clutch cover and flywheel cover, the outside of the shifter and the foot brake for signs of wear from boots scuffing them.I personally know if my boss saw anyone beating on a brand new unit they wouldn't drive another one.The scuffmarks I mentioned are almost unavoidable whether you testride it or beat on it.I think the short time I am operating the machine is the best thing that could happen to it for my customers sake, because I'm not ancsious to show off and feel the power like the average Joe. Been there done that.I dont really know of anyway to tell if it was beat on or not.If you are really that devoted to knowing and have the time just try to stop in the dealership often, walk around and hang out,see what actually goes on around the place. See if they testride and how they do it. thats my best advise hope I helped.

88' 250R stock frame and transmission everthing else is aftermarket.

ok..here is what i seen at my local honda Dealer

2 employees had 2 of the 2001 400EXs out in the lot idling. And they started putting around on them..next thing i know they are riding wheelies on them!! I was shocked.

Then another employee was flying around the lot on a CR125..really running it hard.

I couldn't believe it. I'll never buy a new atv from them, and have told everyone i know about it
