want your opinion on this:

when i bought my raptor the dealer told me it needs to go back for service after 10 hrs.

i'm at that point.

is it nessary?

whats involved that i need to take it back to the dealer??

 

Yes needs to have the first service, oil change, valve adjustment.

My local dealer charges $130, but i have heard some charging 400

 

I did it as well. Gives them a chance to look things over make sure everything is going ok with your new ride.

 

Yea, my dealer wants $200.00
now, i look at the owners manual and it says the first service is at 20hrs. the dealer told me 10hrs.
what did you guys do??

also extended warenty???

 

they change oil and clean air filter if you have half a brain and 40 $ you can give your bikes first service
as far as valve ajustment you dont even need to consider this until 50 hours or so .

 

Since the motor is new, they want to make sure the proper items are checked after the break-in. A valve check and oil change should be under an hour of labor. They are milking you for all the money they can because maintenance is the only thing not covered under the 6 month warranty. If you don't take it in, they could void the 6 month warranty and not allow you to buy a YES warranty. I would change the oil and oil filter yourself and then take it in. Make it very clear that the oil was already changed. Its weird how the the "labor" clock keeps going as your quad is sitting over an oil pan. Yamaha should really set a single price for this across all dealers.

You can do everything yourself for 35 bucks
the dealer told me him self its just another way for them to make the money on peeps true you should change your oil earler then it says 20 hours change it at 10- 15 hours theres metel flakes in the oil and filter from the break in of the motor when you take it to the dealer they tighten up loose bolts and do a 30 point cheack basic things like that as if you would take your truck get it service and they do a 50 point inspection you pay all that money for nothing unless your just stright up lazy not trying to talk bad but just trying to save the raptor riders 100 bucks to get more mods to there raptor [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

I have serviced everything that has a motor! from the lawn mower to my yukon xl!
I know my way around a wrench.
just when you spend $7300 for a toy it makes me think.
also with the eletronics and fule injection, hummm.

I may just do it for the YES warranty.

ya going to try riding this weekend but where i ride the cops did a big *** bust so not to sure i ride in riverside off rattle snake mount. right by Bling Star in riverside watch it Putter700R cause there cracken down over here in riverside where do you ride man ??????????
Oh and as far as the warranty they said you can change your own oil and it would not void but i do hear you about paying all that $$$$$ foR a ToY

 

yea, there cracking down out there and every where!
just not like it used to be.

were most likely to be at el mirage as long as the wind does'nt kick-up.
if it does, Ocotillo wells. i'll have a better idea by friday.
