The honda would most likely win in most situations. Nothing against the lt, I'd like to have one, but there was a reason that around 1997 the lt {and tecate} virtually vanished from 250cc pro mx racing, and litterly every bike that raced in that class was a trx250r. Simply put, honda broke the mold when they made the legandary 250r.

Stock for stock the '87 Suzuki is faster in a straight line. Even then it wouldn't be a slaughter or anything. I am sure neither quad will be stock though. For mx and such the Honda will hold an edge due to better frame geometry/handling. Go ahead and race, have fun with it, and the less corners, than the better for you

i have an 87trx and good buddy of mine has an 87,lt its not even a competition -- i have had 2 quadracers in the past all set-up different. but there isnt a thing on this planet that handles like my R ,and i still havent put the +2 front end on it---cant wait
as far as engine set up, they are both wiseco pistons stock bore engines,i have a port set up for mx his is stock
but it all comes down to the rider though

I would agree. I used to have an LT, and it would light the R up, in a straight line. On an MX track the honda would be better!
