I have been looking into purchasing a 400ex but they look like they might be a little small for me. I'm 6'5 225lbs and I currently ride a sp500, but I would rather get into sport riding. The 400ex looks like the best machine so far. I also looked at the DS650 which fits me great but is way too expensive ($7,200).

well you can't get much bigger than a 400ex the raptor is only bigger engine size and doesn't look to much bigger frame wise. have you looked at a 250r? but if you haven't ridden sport and not that much experience w/quads get the 400ex. its a awesoom all around quad.

For your heigth I would go for the DS650 for comfort. That price must be for a 2001 model, because the 2000 models were going for $6499 in my area. In the case of; Am I too tall for a 400ex; Yes....because bigger is definetly better and the DS650 will rock the seat of your pants!!! Just keeping is real.

Go for the DS, IT will fit you the best of all the Quads you mentioned... Highprice=Quality, reliability, durability.
The DS has{my opinion}the best production suspension available,if you upgrade others you will have spent more than the difference.
GO FOR THE DS650.

keep in mind that the DS MAY not fit in SOME trails because it is so wide. MOST trails i ride one will acomidate a DS but there are tight spts in AFEW trails.

BUT the DS is a rippin Quad!!! no doubt

i always READ a ds was too wide for some trails. then my uncle got one. it is never too wide and we have over 7 miles of trails that we made in our woods. if your sportsmen can fit, the ds will most likely fit too. it doesnt seem like you are that high off the ground until you look down. it never feels tippy or overweight. yes i have ridden light machines (400ex alot, blasters a little)

I'm 6'4" - 255 - and I love the feel of my 400EX - I changed handlebars and pushed them foward a little bit to help give more leg room when turning.
