Default my first day with my new grizzly

so heres the deal i didnt wanna beat the poor girl my first day with her so i need a few questions answered that had it not been for incredible self control i would have answered myself today.

1st question if my jeep wrangler or wifes peice of crap mercedez hatchback gets itself into a hairy situation on our driveway at the cottage can my new friend grizzly pull them?and if so how block my wheels use the winch , attach my starps lock the diff ,put it in low,? what have people found to be the most effective through experience.

2nd no exagerations please ,b ut how much of a beating can this thing take. i notice there a lot of exposed parts around the wheel areas people have any problems with the stock undercarriage protection?water mud ...whose gone the deepest again please stories that happened on the trail not in bed at night while dreaming.

3rd what are some good upgrades engine aswell as protection no fancy gizmos

4 th top speed ..not that i'm a big speed demon but the lake is frozen solid and i can get her wide open pretty safely wont do this till i have synthetic oil put in after my first 100 miles

Well, I cant answer really any of your questions, seeing as I have the Bruin. But can point you to a web page that sells genuine yamaha accessories for rather cheap. Cheaper then my dealer will sell them to me, and this is with shipping costs. Since you have Yamahas top of the line utility, you have many more choices then I do. Check out MotoGrid Granted it may take a week for the parts to arrive but like I said, for me its cheaper then ordering them from my dealer in town. Hope this helps.

When winching keep it in a gear other than Park and use the brakes to hold it back.

Buy full skid plate protection for it.....Aluminum plates that give lots of coverage....Pro Armor is good.

Yamaha sells a nice set of fender extenders that keeps more slop off of the rider in sloppy conditions. Tire and wheel combos are nice as well. I recomend staying with tires no larger than 26 inches for durability of your driveline.

It was an older ford ranger. It was stuck in some deep ruts. it was the first time i used the winch lol
Lucily for me it snaped close to the winch so it flew away from me, and everyone else. I was trying to pull him out backwards. All you have to do is watch the cable if the winch is going, but neither you the cable or the vehicle your puling is moving, then the cables gonna give way soon. But as far as someone getting stuck in the snow it should be ok, Just remember its a 2500LB winch and a truck or SUV weights about 5000LBS and when its stuck you have to add 1000LBS or so.

Well when winching something really heavy use a ****** blocks they multiply your pulling power but slow your speed of the cable coming in and then you have the mired factor ( thats the suction factor ) of a vehical thats stuck . or if it's hung up in ruts have to figure the force to over come the stuck factor and the weight of the vehical .look at manufacture web sites or even some old articals in magazines .
I've heard nothing bad about the grizz pretty tough machine .

Yes the Griz is a tough machine and yes dont go any bigger than 26 "ers on the tires, you want to keep the power I went up to 27 " and I am starting to see effects on my drive train, no biggies just a leaky middle gear seal( thats on order) and some wheel bearings that I already replaced . dont take it over the front fenders or you will drown it , it will suck water in the belt duct and the intake to the engine, I have also experienced that.It is a very rugged machine and will take a good beatin ,then it will awaken again the next day and do it all over agian.Top speed will not match any of the new Quads bigger than the Grizzes displacement you will top out at 61- 65 mph I have heard mixed reports mine was 61 with 27" tires that was a true reading on GPS while racing a 650 rincon , I did beat him on top end . If you get traction in low when pulling you will for sure be surprised in what you can pull . Have fun , Always where a helmet , and bring out what you brought in. Good luck.
