Default Oil pump removal?

I would like to remove the oil pump and run gas and oil mix. I have a 2001 scrambler 90cc. I know I read this before and the procedures for removal. If any body can help please post. Thank you

You have two options.

1) Cut the tube and plug it. Wish I'd gone this route.

2) Remove the fan shroud. Remove the 2 screws that hold the pump on and pull it out, making sure the metal gear comes out with it. Plug the hole or just stick the pump with no gear back on. If the gear falls off the back of the pump shaft (and it is loose), you get to remove the fan, magneto, stator and worm gear to get to the gear.

You will at the very least need a new throttle cable and probably need to rejet. I would recommend using this opportunity to move to an aftermarket carb and air filter too. Since going premix, mine starts easier and smokes a lot less and has a LOT less carbon build up on the piston too.

To remove the OI system on the Polaris 90 2 stroke, here's the method I used:

a) Drain the gas from the tank.
b) Turn its gas off
c) Drain the gas in the bottom of carb.
d) Remove any floor boards and engine plastic in your way. (Right side of engine only)
e) Remove the fan (3 screws).
f) Remove the large nut holding on the flywheel. This can be done using an air compressor via normal thread direction.
g) Remove the flywheel using a special flywheel puller. Same puller for a Yamaha Banshee will work.
h) Remove the two screws holding the stator plate (not the 2 screws holding on the stator) in place (you don't need to un-plug it, just pull the rubber grommet toward the stator to give more room. Be very careful not to nick or bang the stator around. Just take your time).
i) Remove the gasket that was behind the Stator. Be careful not to tear it.
j) Remove the clip that holds the white plastic gear in place. Remove the gear and also remove the gear drive pin. (Snap ring pliers).
k) Remove the Oil Pump and its lines. Remove its OI tank.
l) Install a fillter plate in the OI Pump hole. One can create their own plate using thin metal or buy their own filler plate. Note: Some folks re-install the pump without its white gear attached. Use what works best for you.
m) Reassemble in reverse order.
n) Replace the throttle cable with a single cable. You can purchase a single throttle cable directly from www.terrycable.com I purchased one off WRH Racing and it works great!!!!
o) Plug the oil inlet by soldering up the hole in the carb or with a vacuum plug (I soldered mine. If you use a vacuum plug and it falls off you can lean out the motor and do some damage)
p) Have fun!!!!

For oil, I use Amsoil Dominator or Amsoil Intercept at 45:1. Some folks run this brand at 50:1. Others have their own favorite brand and ratio of oil.

Hope this helps as well...

No problem for the info.

If you go with Amsoil Interceptor at 45:1 - 50:1 (average 48:1) instead of other brand of oil at 32:1, you may NOT have to install a larger Main Jet in your carb. Simple adjust the C-Clip on the main needle to obtain a dark beer bottle brown color. If you do need to re-jet (because you ran out of C-Clip positions), you only need +1 Main jet size higher. But odds are, at 48:1 your carb may not need any adjusting at all.

Hope this helps as well....

I was going to use it on a 04 and 05 eton viper that I remove the oil injection from. I ended up taking apart the throttle cable housing at the point where the throttle cable (at the handlebar) splits to the oil and the carb cables. Inside this housing there is a circular cable pull where the carb and oil pump cable connect. I removed the cable from the pull that operated the oil pump and cut the **** off the end of the wire. I slid out the inner cable and then cut the throttle cable housing to the oil pump and left about 3 inches after the Y. I then put an oversized screw in the cut cable end and threaded it completely in to avoid any contaminants from entering the throttle pull housing. This has been working really well.

I am happy with the mod and I am currently running Amsoil Saber 100:1 premix.
