raptor 660r carbs
#1
I have a 04 raptor bored to 686, hmf race exhaust, stage 1 hotcam, dropped a tooth on front spocket, I am looking to upgrade the carbs next I was thinking edelbrock do any companies make single carb conversion for the rappy the two carbs are a pain in the #@$ to jett

Edelbrock is by far the most popular, but there is a company or two that sell single mikuni carb setups for the rap as well. Both the mikuni and edelbrock kits are too small IMO but will perform well for all but sustained high rpm racing.

Do you think the single carb is better then dual carbs? I always thought that the dual carbs would make more horsepower or something like that? And why would it rev quicker?I'd be glad if you would answer those question
thanx

if a compiney made a raptor single carb then they must have did it for a reason.
i would go with edelbrock carbs. its what the racers use. the carbs increase top end speed and acceleration.
also the bigger the carb the more lowend power you loose. now for the raptor i dont know if that happens to it or not because i think it would have had more carberation with the 2 33mm mikuni carbs. add the 2 stock carbs that would total 66mm and the single carb is smaller mm's than 66mm. i dont know though if it works that way or not.

oh ok,thats weird....maybe someone will resolve the mystery! haha
and do you know how the edelbrock carbs cost?
oh and another question,is it worth putting a 686 if you dont have alot of mods? just like me or is it a waste of money?

the carb is made for big bores/cams/porting/k&n filter after that you need carb

the slow revs on the twins is because of velocity , the smaller cfm of the single will create velocity/more torque. Same as over size valves/ cam lift . jetting has to be off set on twins to because of petcock bits on them. A T petcock would be mint to get the fuel equally to each carb .

Sorry I took so long to reply. I gained a little power with the 686 at 11:1 compression but the reason I have a 686 is because I grenaded the motor twice so it is bored to that size. personally if there is nothing wrong with your motor I would just bump up the compression on the stock bore but that is up to you. good luck
