I am getting a uni for my K.Q. Are there any performance increase with the filter?

 

You wont get much at all but going to a different foam filter. A k&n with a outerwear will give you some more. Also air box mods will give you more flow. I dont know if the KQs efi will adjust for more air flow. You may need a dobeck or power commander. A new filter and exhaust or just remove the spark arrestor will help quite a bit.

By the time you add the foam around the K&N how do you say it gives more than a Twin Air or Uni? Are you recommending these mods from experience on your own King Quad?

If you are worried agout power gains, why are you doing the UNI? If you only want to get the stock filter out of the bikes then the UNI is good enough. There is no way the Uni cage will flow as well as the Twin Air. Just my 2 cents.

 

The outerwear is not foam. The K&N with the outerwear will flow more air than any foam filter. I have used both kinds in years past. I dont have a KQ but I do have a raptor 700 and a Vinson.

 

What is the outer wear made of?

 

Nylon I think. Go to outwewears website and look at them. I think it is www.outerwears.com

 

Uni, Twin Air, and K & N will all flow way more air than your engine needs or can use. I installed a UNI on mine, and did not notice any gains. The real question is how much dirt do you want to stop. K & N's marketing gimmick is that they flow more air than the competition, which they probably do, but at the sacrafice of letting more dirt through.

I put on the Uni after having the stock filter for 7 months, and it opened it up seems a bit louder and breathes easier and NO dirt has gotten in since I've put on the Uni, I'd recommend in a second.
