Default Eiger with Vinson carb.

I hope this post will be seen by aksafari or another Eiger owner with a Vinson carbeurator on it. I was just curious about the physical dimensions of the Vinson carb, did you have to modify the pickup tube any to make it fit or did it fit exactly as the old carb. did? I've ordered an HMF utitly pipe (with quiet core), and bought a stage 1 jet kit, drilled 5- 1" holes in the airbox lid, fitted the lid with uni pre filters in the holes and my dealer says I won't need any jet bigger than a 120 I noticed that aksafari installed a 134 jet. Is that because he's moving so much more air and fuel through the bigger Vinson carb he put on his machine? Thanks for any advice you can give. I'll probably wait til next year to swap the carbs if it isn't a real hassle to do, I don't want to make too many mods this close to the first poker run of the year, just want to be ready to ride. I'll be keeping an eye out for a deal on a Vinson carb though. Thanks again

Yes, he's moving more air, but it might also be because he's closer to sea level (I don't know), that's why your dealer says you won't need bigger than 120.

I hope no one takes offense to this, but I keep seeing people ask about jetting but never mention what elevation they ride at. Someone with the same mods at sea level is not going to be jetted the same as someone that rides at 7K feet.... well you might be but it'll probably run like crap.

My Eiger did run like crap at 6000 feet or so. At 5000 it was passable, but still a little sluggish. I took the airbox cover off to solve this. I'm still working on getting my engine to get that much air, but still have water fording capabilities like the stock snorkle. Tough, but I'm sure it's doable.
(that is not my link)
Do a search and read all that I've written already about the swap. It's in the records...

Also, do some research on what jets are in other quads with Kehein CVK 132 carbs. Yamaha kodiak I think? And a few others. Again, use the search feature. Very handy.

The Eiger, for its displacement, is run very lean. Maybe it's the 4 valve head, maybe it's the intake restriction, but factory, it's set up too lean in my opinion. My dealer confirmed this when I originally went to get a new jet.

After jetting up, I noticed my fan doesn't run nearly as much. That's a good sign, by the way.

As great as this quad is factory, there is still a lot of potential to be unlocked. I'm getting there slowly.

the only mods i've done were free...minus the jets ($2) and i dislike IRS and the vinnys, although a real nice bike, they have a plastic bumper and LCD speed/looked to be more breakable stuff on them

It has nothing to do cost. If I wanted a Vinson I'd have spent a few dollars more and bought one. The 400 class does everything I need. Whether I'd have bought a 250 or 800 I would be modding stuff. It's a guy thing.
