Default 06' outlander 400 ho, only 87 kms ?

Is something wrong with my outlander 400 ho? I thought it should hit 90 kms atleast but even on the pavement i've only seen 88 once. Other-wise I love it, but top speed IS kind of a let down. Any thoughts out there, or is that it ?

An Outlander 400 will top out at about 55 mph. If you are getting that, there is nothing wrong w/ your machine.

That's right. My 04 Outlander 400 would top out at 47-48 mph straight and level with a hard box on back and a young passenger, 55 downhill @ 6000' to 8000' feet altitude. Should be a bit faster at lower altitudes.. I think for a 400cc that's pretty decent. ROTAX ROCKS!!! Maybe comparable to some 500's?

Hello Sqeege. I'm being told by dealers (Other than the one I bought from) that they should run mid ninety's or even better? I had an old 225 yamaha moto 4 that would damn near scream up to 80 kms or 50 mph. Do you mind my asking what your gettin' out of your 450 yamaha? They all say the outlander 400 ho's are fast and will make some 500s blush. But the guys I know with Vinsons and sportsmans etc. are hitting 95 to 100 kms. So what are the 500s I can run with, because we all know that when we are forced to hit the roads 5-10 kms difference will make me look like I am standing still. Don't get me wrong, I still love my bike and the ride is amazing! P.S. You wouldn't be a window cleaner by trade as your nickname leads me to guess? I only ask as I own a small window bus.

I can hold a steady 55mph but going slight downhill can get up to 60mph. This was checked aginst a stock handa forman 500 who really couldn't outrun me.

my arctic cat 500 only goes 55mph. so it sounds like your running good to me. most 500's run around 55 to 58 and most 650's top at about 65 to 67 and the big bores around 72 to 75 tops. Stock ofcourse. Most 400's ony go about 45 to 50 tops.
