Do any of you guys have experience with these quads? I am thinkign of getting another ATV. I am pondering the 800EFI or the outy 800. The outy is really expensive and does not have skid plates, but it really seems like a good quad. Are thhey reliable? I have never really heard od Bombadier before. Would it be more reliable than an 800EFI. Just curious. I like the looks and the comfort of the 800EFI, from what I hear the 800 outy is faster though. I am mainly looking for reliability. I just purchased an x2 so if it holds up well I will be strongly inclined to buy another Popo....

Thanks in advance for all the info guys.....

depends on what sight you go to wheather here on on the bombie sight. personal i love my 800 efi sportsman. i think its stronger built and has true awd and plenty of power. the outl. is faster but dont care about top speed verses the reliablity and comfort of my 800. personal perfence i guess.

I looked at on the other day. After having sprotsmans for a few years now the first thing I spoted is how thin all the metal is. The pods looks nice but steel just isnt there. And then go over to there fourms they have just as many issues as a Polaris. A lot of guys will chime in say one is better than the other, ride them both before you buy. If the dealer gives you crap about a test ride find another dealer!

I can tell you that Polaris has changed for the better my 2005 rides so much better than my 2000. The EFI is great and you wont need to keep adding parts to make it faster that 800EFI is to fast for any trial!

Good luck and keep reading and asking we'll all help you!

Everybodey keeps saying how fast this new bombardier 800 is. Like the sportsman 800 is not fast enough. I can ride a good wheelie in High gear and cruise at 55-60 mph comfortably. Although the sp 800 is only a 760cc. Thats why it is so close to the brute force 750.

I ride with 2 Outy 800's and they are wicked quick, ride and handling is close to the Polaris but when you get the winch and a front bumper the front tends to dive even more than without.
They are both fairly new yet, this Memorial weekend they are coming to Hurley, WI for 2 days of riding that tends to exploit any weeknesses, so I'll have a better idea of there reliability after that.

I would definitely be interested in hearing about the trip. If this new x2 treats me right I might just very well go with the Popo 800. The BRP 800 is more money and I have heard that underbody protection is sorely lacking.....Nothing that cannot be fixed though....

CFWilkins, you'll find out really quick how tough Polaris is. There is no other manufacture who builds their ATV's tougher than Polaris. Especially the underbody. People talk about reliabilty of their machine(s) vs. Polaris, well as far as that goes, one of my best friends has an 05 Grizz and 2 AC's a 650 H1 and a 500 Manual, and we ride in the same places and i cannot tell you how many times he's tore up his cv boots, and all i can do is laugh. He finally put all that money into his grizzly and got the highlifter stainless steel skid plate package so now he's ok. But still i havnt spent one cent to protect my cv boots b/c there is no need. And while the 800 Outty me be a little faster, the 800 will be PLENTY fast enough, and IMO will be alot more reliable in the long run. Better built, stronger, more capabile, tons of more storage, alot more room, MUCH more comfortable ride, and you will hang with ANYONE, if not putting them to shame, i personally think its the best all around machine out there (IMO). and besides, who knows when we'll see the true 2007/2008 Sportsman Duke 800/850 H.O. - heheheheh

I'm sure you have heard of Bombadier before and just didn't realize it. They make Skidoo sleds,Seadoo watercraft, and Evenrude and Johnson outboards.

I can not and will not argue with what "JJonJon" had to say......my 2004 Sportsman 400 is built stronger than anything else I ride with. Axles, Frame, Struts, Underbody protection Etc....built stronger than other manufacturers......just take a look and it is obvious. This is why they weigh more. And ohh BTW.....I didn't cut a single CV boot until 1260 miles of rough, rocky, rooted, rutted year round hard-thrashing riding.......amazing. I still have only cut the one boot. My buddies on Grizzlies cut MANY boots, wasted CVs, broke multiple axles and bent several tie-rods over the same period of time.

Now.......the question is.....what do you want the quad for. If it's a case of simply wanting higher performance, speed, agility etc....then get the Bombardier. The Outlander 800 is a very nice high performance 4x4 quad. So if it's only about performance......get the Outlander.

If you want a more strongly built but somewhat lesser performance oriented/more utility oriented machine then get the Sportsman.

Both are good......just define your objectives.
