how does the TRX 90 do in high elevation
#1
Just getting ready to purchase a TRX 90 for my son today and wondering how it will perform in the higher elevation of Colorado mountains, also he is a bigger 9 yr old @ 90pounds. I've also been reading about the limiters on the atv, and wonder if any of these altercation would affect higher alitudes performance?

I dont know the extent that you ride in high elevations but any quad will run well at high elevations but you need to rejet the carb. Our quads used on elk hunting trips wont run hardly at all 4000 feet and up when jetted for 1600 feet. Once rejetted they run fine. Either buy a few smaller jets like 1 thru 5 sizes smaller than stock or try a dial a jet kit. Both will have the bike running fine. Not as fast as at lower elevations due to less available oxygen but they'll run Ok. I'll bet the 90 will run good at 3000-5000 feet jetted about 2-3 sizes smaller compared to being jetted for 1000 feet above sea level.

Thanks for your responce Denver sit @ about 4500 and we will we running the majority of the time @6000-10000 ft. The gentelman who I just purchased this from ran it in the sand @ 9000 ft and stated that it ran fine just slower so he installed a 95 preferred kit which included fore kit #00299, camshaft #12740, cam core #22740G, vented Valve cap #18530, clutch spring #16781, exhaust system#18333 What are your thoughts on these modifications. What part of Kansas are you from I played ball in Garden City and Liberal?
Thanks again for the responce.

I'm about 20 miles south of Kansas City. Check your jetting and I'm sure it will do fine. Those trx 90s are good torquey bikes and are a fun bike. Maybe jet down a size or two at 9000 feet. You'll know if its rich up there it will bog off the line if you start off in 1st or 2nd especially. It will start easily though if too rich just wont be snappy.
