Hey guys i got a 87 250r with a ct330 and i was wondering what would be a good gearing set up for it rite now there is a 15/36 but its all top end tourque and i want bottom end torque for wheelies. or im looking for a gearing that will work all around, dunes,woods,and sometimes a little drag.what be a good overall gearing that would do good for the engine and myself. thanks.and one more question what would you guys think about a 13/36 gearing.would that be good or lmk what you guys with think is best thanks

 

Its obvious from the lack of replies that your question is somewhat difficult to answer. Best thing i can suggest is to decide exactly what it is that you want out of your ride, be it low-end rock crawling, mid range for moto-x or????, Your 330 should provide good torque so you may just want to go a 14 on the countersprocket so that you will still maintain some decent top speed. Fine adjustments are made with the rear sprocket. Fortunately sprockets for the 250R are cheap so you can afford to make a few changes without breaking a 50

 

I run 14/38 on my R and drag race in the sand almost exclusively. It has no problem pulling that gearing and still has plenty of low end torque (relative) when I'm putting around.
