700 efi fuel milage
#1
I bought a new 700 efi last week and went riding sat. I put 14.? miles on it and the hour meter is less than 4 hrs. It used over 3/4 tank of gas. My buddy bought a 800 efi the same time and drove every where I did, he only used abournd 1/4 of a tank. Does this seem right to you guys? My dealer told me that was about right for mine, I think he's full of crap. How many miles to the tank are you guys getting about of your twins?
Thanks

with zero hours my first tank went about 40 miles. I now have 300 miles and 25 hours and I am now getting about 70 miles per tank. I am not babying it wither. 70 miles per tank it with a lot of wide open throttle.

Just general riding around and short runs my 06 800 efi gets about 10 MPG. Think about what your riding, its like a 4X4 truck with a 454. If we would have wanted fuel economy we would have bought little pissy Hondas! Messing around in the mud and climbing hills they wont get good fuel economy. But really who cares how much gas it uses. Its a tank and a hell of a tough machine, just ride it like you stole it.

It's all the way these tanks are shaped.......They are very large at the top and very narrow at the bottom........So the first half of the tank will last much longer then the second half........I think it is a poor design......If you're going more than 50-60 miles you better carry some extra fuel......

My 800's gauge reads 3/4 full when the tank is overflowing. I think we're better off checking fuel the ol'-fashioned way: looking inside the tank!
It was fine when I first brought it home last year, then it stayed on 3/4 and wouldn't go any higher. Not a big deal to me. Never owned an off-road machine that had one anyway.
Once the level drops down, then it works normally. I've run it until it was flashing on E, and still went a few miles to get home.
