We've got a 700 prairie and for a ute it's pretty fast. At the bracket drags I had the same dial in as a bone stock dvx400 and when he knocked me out in our run his time was only slightly faster in 300' than mine. The BF750, SP800, and bomb 800 are all considerably faster than the 700 prairie and I wouldnt be so quick to count them out. The raptor in stock form is pretty choked up and heavy so it should be a good race, worthy of running a few times. Distance and terrain makes a big difference as well. The raptor can and should come out on top, at least from the races between prairies, bf's, and sportsmans I've seen. No experience with the bomb though, and it's supposed to be the quickest/fastest of them all.

Dont count that brute force out so quickly. To many variables to this race. What type of surface are you going to run? How long of a run??

I watched a Brute Force beat just about every bike it raced this weekend on hardpacked dirt in 300ft. The brute was launching in 4 wheel drive and everyone had to play catch up.

It beat Raptors, Yzf's, 400ex, KFX 400, Vforce, Outy 800, DS, and a new Raptor 700. It had a cdi box, and a muzzy exhaust.

I've got a 700 prairie with a few mods on it includine nos. This past weekend I was neck and neck with my buddies 01 raptor with 11:1 wiseco and stage 1 cams. We were racing 100 yards on dirt. I out weighed him by probably a good 140# plus the bike weight difference. If the brute has a cdi and the raptor is stock then the raptor will lose a 100 yard sand drag.

IF I ever raced him (he IS my buddy and buddies like to brag) what surface would be in my best intrest to be on? Around here, you can have any surface imaginable as long as it's pavement or dirt.

Pavement will allow you to hook hard. But might have to worry about to much hook.

Dirt, soft dirt wont allow for good launches for you, nor will super hard pack.

Hes got four wheels to grab traction to your 2 wheels. Hes got a traction advantage. Does he out weigh you. Weight should be in your advantage considering that both of you are within 40-50lbs of each other. Your bike should weigh over a 100lbs less. Horsepower is probably pretty close. Both anywhere from 38-45hp at the rear wheels considering you are both stock.

Best thing you could do is just race him and get it over. Make it a longer run so that if he jumps you hard off the line you have time to run him down.

If your on the raptor and want to win try to race on some hard pack. You want enough traction that you can get out of the hole but not so much that your fighting to keep the front end down. Also remember the more traction there is avaliable the less advantage his 4x4 will have. MOST important make the race as long as you can. In 100 yards you'll have more than a handful with the brute. But stretch it out to 200 or even 300 yards and your odds of winning will go up.

I have a utility 4x4. The 650 V2, which also has a V-Twin engine like BF, and it will outrun your Raptor at top end stock. They top out between 68-72mph depending on grade. On the otherhand, you would probably get to your top speed faster than us, and mabey beat us of the start, but in the end, we will be faster.
