Default kingquad cv boots!!!

last weekend i went riding with a couple of buddies and we ride through some pretty nasty mud but when i was cleaning up my 2005 kingquad i noticed one of the clamps that hold the cv boot onto the shaft on the left rear had come completely off and the other inner clamp was loose and allowed the boot to move and compress..i find that just poor quality and unacceptable...has anyone else had these problems???

I believe there was a recall for this, though I could be mistaken. Did you have it done?

That happenned to me too, all you have to do is to grab the boot solidly at the small end and twist it back, you can pull on it too to take it out of the groove, air will rush in, then you just have to push it back in place. Dont worry you will not end up with a leak. I even have one boot held in place with a tie wrap of good quality.

I prefer that than a collar so tight that you end up tearing and scraping the boot.

I'd suggest using the band type clamps with the tensioner tool. You can get these much tighter and they don't stick up high. These things are nearly impossible to knock off. Check out the instructions at clamping instructions. PM me if you need any details.
Thanks,

is there anything in the warranty for the 05 kingquad that says it will replace a CV boot if it got cut by something, and if not, is there a good place on the web that I could get a boot kit and install in myself, thanks

No boots are not covered under warranty since there are some many things that can cause the tear that are related to the product quality. However, I do have heavy duty thermoplastic boots. These are made of a much thicker stiffer material and can handle a lot more abuse than the stock ones. PM me if you want details.

Does the 2006 model have the same problem?

And I would also like to know more on the heavy duty boots.

Thx.

The heavy duty boots are made of a thermoplastic material. And they are made of a much thicker, stiffer, and more puncture resistant. These are big improvement over the o.e. type neoprene boots.
