Project Outlander 1000-1288cc ????
#1
Ok, this info may look familar since I posted it on another thread and I think I kinda ended up hyjacking the thread a little so, I thought I would transfer the main parts of what I am planning on doing over to a thread of my own. That is specific to this project that I am working on. Any info would be appreciated.
It is based off of this 1000cc 80* V-twin from the sleds
The motor as I understand it came from the sleds and not the motorcyle as some might think. The motor cycle Rotax is a 60* twin not an 80* twin like the sled and atv's use. There is three versions of this motor as I understand it, bening used in sleds both domestic and in europe.
Under both the BRP brand name and the Linx brand of BRP there is the original 995.9cc ,then the 800cc and the 1288cc versions of the Rotax 80* v-twin.
Here is a link to the LINX Yeti 1288cc powered sled.
I had been told that the motor is something called a casset type where the heads are enterchangable.
Its the 1288cc heads I want to try and fit to my quad. Can ya picture how fast a 4x4 quad could run a 300 foot drag with 1288cc EFI on Nos. If I ever figure out how to make this happen I deffinatly am going to need a MAX chassis, a wheeleeeee bar, and maybe a some me type of special straps to hold me on it. LOL
What do ya think Choose, ya think that would get me into that under 4 sec class with a 4 stroke. Well the motor is looking more and more like a dream, rather than a possability since I keep searching the web and asking fokes for intell and info on who to contact but nothing seems to be working. The only thing is that it will be very strong just with the NOs anyway. The machine is speced at 50#'s heavier than the std model but the whole thing the way it is built with all the added length all located behind the rider it shoud be about like any other extended race machine just so happpens it came from the factory this way. My guys at Inmotions are just going to custome make the exhaust using one of there race quad cans and just adapting what ever is needed to make it fit my machine. They figured they would be able to get at least the same 4 hp we got out of the HMF setup on my other Outy. Sample pic of there pipes
I will be useing one of there longer cans than pictured but you can kinda get the idea.

Well I found a little more info on the motor to night that might be at least a step in the right direction as far as the conformation I was looking for that the sleds are useing the same motors. It would seem that BRP is bringing one of the Euro 4-tech v-twin sleds to the states as an 07 model here is a quote that at least confirms they are sharing the motor.
Here are the sleds engine specs
V-Twin with 80-degree angle, Liquid-cooled, EFI
Peak Power:
65 hp @ 7,000rpm
Valve train: SOHC,
4-valves per cylinder
Bore: 91mm
Stroke: 61.5mm
Compression Ratio: 10.3:1
Throttle body size:
Single 46mm
Exhaust: Two pipes

Many snowmobilers want the added benefits of a four-stroke engine in their snowmobile – outstanding fuel economy, signature sound and longevity. For these riders is the Rotax 4-TEC V-800 engine.
The 4-TEC V-800 is the same engine at the heart of the highly acclaimed Outlander™ 800H.O. EFI all-terrain vehicle, adapted for snowmobiling. The V-800 gets

Thanks Choose, I know allot of this is repeat info but I had kind of had a complaint on the other thread, so I figured I had better start one of my own specific to this project of mine. That guy was right, I had kinda got that other thread off topic.
I plan on puting up any new info I find in case anyone else is ever enterested or maybe someone may find errors in my info and or can help in someway with new or better info.

I think this is just great what your trying to do with the new v-twin 4x4 utes. Its people like you and shotgun who take the 4x4 Utility bikes to greater places. You guys really press the envelope so others can reap the benefits. I wish you well and hope the best for you. Keep us updated on the progress.

Fastfatboy, You have certainly taken my reply in the wrong light my friend. I wasnt trying to imply that you have a slow bike at all. I was only trying to say that what CC1999 is doing will benefit the 4x4 Utility guys who want to go fast, like yourself if in the future you get the funds together to reap the benefits of what is being developed in the 4x4 world. Im truly sorry if you took it any other way. I guess I could have worded it differently.
