Project Outlander 1000-1288cc ????

No harm no foul. I'm probably just cranky. It's gonna be tough to swallow getting a spanking from an eight foot long 2 seater It's gonna be great watching that thing come to the line against some kid on his daddys yfz just so he can get smoked. I am looking forward to seeing that big outi run if it all comes togther.

Thanks for the plug, but the real credit goes to the builder. In my case FST, I told him I wanted to run with the sports bikes. And he did the job.
CC1999, that's going to be quite a project, good luck to you, I wish you the best.
Alltoys, claims he already did a 1230cc in a bomb, have you talked to him. Anyway, that'll be bad news when you get it together. I watched your vids, you need a bar for sure...lol, looked impressive, but everytime you get out of the throttle your tranny tries to back shift.
Fastfatboy, hang in there man, you might not have the fastest ute, but at least you have the ballzs to bring it to the line. that says alot to me.
Choose, watch the vid, did a heck of a job...impressive racing.

I want nothing more than people like you (Fastfatboy), CC1999 & Shotgun to keep pushing these 4x4's to limits that have yet to be touched.
Peace my brother,

I take it I missed something??? I see allot of eddits of post.
Hey Shotgun, Where is Alltoys hanging out these days, I don't see him much on the boards overhere or at Kawiriders either. I need to get the skinny on that 1230.
So far all I know for sure now is that the Outy 800 is with out a doubt a version of the sled motor, and that with the loomiming rummors of the BRP maybe making a 1000cc machine, that makes me want the 1288cc heads that much more. I would hate to have this very expensive project turn into a showroom equivelent machine a year or so from now. Thats pretty much what I have with my Twin peaks at this point with it running similar numbers on motor to my outy 800 on motor. My outy is 1 HP stronger in fact, and cost about 3 grand less than the Twin peaks total investment dollars. I found part numbers for the 1000cc heads and have prices and where I can order the parts all lined out but there is still no info or even proof the 1288cc heads will work. I just hate to go the 1000cc rout to find out about the time I am done with the project, that the 1288 heads would have worked and cost about the same. Thats kinda what happend on my Twin Peaks, no sooner than we got the 800 motor kit in and all the bugs worked out the 900 kit was available for about a grand more.

You didn't miss any thing just a little misunderstanding on my part probably caused by lack of sleep. I've been thinking are you sure your gonna be able to get that large of a displacement gain just from different heads? I mean 400+cc is a huge jump without changing bore or stroke. Hope it works for ya.

Well, BRP's euro website is the only source I have found for info on the 1288cc engine and it is very limmitted compared to the info given on the US BRP website, so no I am not sure of a whole lot of anything in reguards to the 1288. I am told the cranks are the same but who knows if that is true or not. I am going to try and find a sled forum to further hunt for info on these 80* 4-tech twins. I hope to find a BRP oreinted forum for sled heads that like to hop them up and come up with more info. The bore will chage with the heads and there I am sure, will be a need for diff. pistons to fit the new bore, Its the crank and cams and ECM that I am still in the dark on. I know rather I go to the 1000cc heads or the 1288cc heads I will have to change injectors and the TB's are not exactly the same and I have to find more info on the TB, I have as to rather I can put the sleds larger injectors in it and it work. Allot more info is needed.

you need more than heads and injectors. you need the jugs and the rods and pistons aswell. while the bottom end of the motor is in common there are still differnt parts these are 4 stroke motors you aint gaining displacement from a head change and if you are id have to suggest around 100psi of boost from your turbo your gonna have to add.

When I say heads I am generalizing the head and its coresponding components I have a fairly lengthy parts list printed out from the BRP sled parts breakdown. I mentioned pistons just in the last post. The rods are not a given that they have to be changed but I have the part numbers incase I need them. My twin Peaks gained 100cc's with pistons and sleeves Rods are still OEM. I wished I had changed rods to since I am spraying the peaks now with a little more than recomended for the stock rods.
