hard to start my wifes trail boss
#1
We picked up a used trail boss 325 and it runs great once I get it started. If I dont start it once a week it is VERY!! hard to start.even using starting fluid.Does this bike have a throttle switch? I think it might be out of adjustment.how do I do that?
Thanks

Welcome to the forums.
Do you use the choke when you start it? The idle adjustment screw is on the left side of the quad/carb. You'll know it when you see it. The mixture adjustment screw, you have to take the plastic plug out. A lot easier to do without the carb on the quad. I have a service manual at the house, if you need any info let me know.
The Trail Boss is cold natured. Once they get warmed up they run good.

I have a 2005 Trail boss and in cold weather it had a hard time idling. Try adjusting the throttle cable (up by the handlebars) - that helped mine. If that doesn't work, try adjusting the air screw.

I wouldn't use any more starting fluid because I've heard some horror stories assoc. with it's use.
Have the battery checked. I would bet it's bad. Sounds like mine when I had a bad bat. anyway. Check the spark plug too.

if your new trailboss had been sitting for awhile "stored" the carburetor might have gunk in it. when the gasoline sits for many month's the molecules separate and create a gummy tar like substance. this gum clogs up passages through out the fuel system like fuel filter, petcock, carburetor. so thats is the most probable cause of your problem. clean or replace the parts. put in a new spark plug fresh new fuel also. when the atv is stored it must be stored with a fuel stabalizer to prevent this from happening again.

my old TB still does this, it has a bad battery, but i don't use it much at all so i just let it sit for now... seems like the battery problem. i think mine needs its valves adjusted too as it does not run NEARLY as strong as it did when i first got it... oh well, hope that helps.
